01 about
Whether I'm writing songs or poems, singing, photographing, cooking, painting or designing, my inspiration comes from my family and my home -- Canada. I feel like Canada informs everything I do: its natural beauty, its vastness, the diverse geographies, people and cultures, our risk-taking arts. This place unites all the peoples and cultures of the world, which is remarkable! Still so much remains to be done and improved in Canada, including reconciling the horrific past of our first nations peoples and better supporting their's and all peoples of colour's future here, and doing everything in our power to mitigate the unfolding global catastrophe of climate change.
Until recently, I managed a non-profit music organization, grant-writing (lots of grant-writing!), fundraising, developing and overseeing a facility, and producing and promoting music artists, concerts, and workshops - hundreds in my career. Today, in semi-retirement, I am creating more than ever, feeling the sand between my toes, trying to grow stuff that the deer won't eat, developing businesses, and freelancing.

I'm proud to be releasing my debut solo album, Break of Day: Songs for Colin, dedicated to my amazing late son, Colin Earl Bell, who will forever be the light of my life. I'm also happy to be making new musical friends and performing here and there in my new home.

And I'm thrilled to be nearing completion simultaneously of my first solo book of poems, My Heart Is About To Break Into A Billion Pieces, for 2025 distribution, which will include some of Colin's poems.
A photography project I've been working on called, The Maritime Beach, is ongoing capturing the beaches of my new province, Nova Scotia, and how we occupy them in photos.
Having completed construction on my new little garden cabin on my Nova Scotia property by the sea, I recently began renting it selectively through airbnb, most happily to my guest's delight.

Oh, and I still design interiors and cater on the side. Yup -- if it's creative, I'm about it. I do hope you enjoy my website and wish you all happy trails!

My Heart Is About To Break Into A Billion Pieces is an inadvertently epic collection of poems written over the span of decades. It charts a life of loving, wondering, struggle, and of bearing the unbearable. Bonus poems by Colin Bell included.
